In the automotive networking world, new trends are evolving, and Automotive Ethernet is one of the indispensable technologies. Applications such as Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS), Infotainment, Gateways, Body Control, Camera / Radar, and even Vehicle-To-X (V2X) communication are elements of future vehicles that are difficult to imagine without the latest generation of In-Vehicle Networking.
Due to the already defined Ethernet protocol, IEEE802.3bw/bp, bandwidths of 100Mbps or 1000Mbps can be realized within the vehicle and support innovative applications for future in-vehicle communication systems. Another advantage for using Automotive Ethernet is the reduction of the cabling inside the vehicle, which is realizable by using the ethernet protocol and untwisted pair cables (UTP). Automotive Ethernet allows the masses of cable inside the car to be minimized significantly which lowers overall costs.
As the first supplier of common mode chokes for 1000BaseT1, Pulse are pleased to announce the introduction of the new common mode chokes in 1210 (3.2x 2.5mm) platform size for 100BaseT1 and 1000BaseT1. These new, smaller common mode chokes are the successor of the existing AE2002 (100BaseT1) and AE5002 (1000BaseT1) which are already available in 1812 (4.5×3.2 mm) platform size. Special attention to the design of both 1210 (4532) size chokes helps them attain compliance with the IEEE’s specification and fully meet the requirements of Open Alliance TC1 and TC3 parameters. Both CMCs have an operating temperature range from -40oC to 125oC making them ideal for automotive grade I applications. Combined with manufacturing in ISO/IATF accredited site, they can be used in critical electronic control units ECU’s as well as powertrain and BMS solutions.
“Through the use of faster bandwidth on the communication lines, it is of great importance that the common mode chokes are fully qualified and have a reliability for mass production. Our new introduced common mode chokes AE0100 and AE1210 meet all of these requirements. In addition, both common mode chokes are already referenced and approved by major global automobile manufacturers, as well as semiconductor providers.”
